US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman came to Istanbul and met with Turkish Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Ibrahim Kalin in Istanbul.

According to the statement made by the Presidency Spokesperson, during the meeting held at the Presidency’s Dolmabahçe Office, regional issues, especially the war in Ukraine, and bilateral relations were discussed.

It was stated that Turkey is in constant contact with the parties and is ready to host negotiations.

During the meeting, peace and stability in Syria, Libya, and Afghanistan, Turkey-Israel relations, and the Turkey-Armenia normalization process were discussed.

At the meeting, where the current situation of bilateral relations with the US was also discussed, steps were agreed to be taken for the implementation of a joint strategic mechanism.

In a written statement from the US Department of State on March 3, it was reported that Sherman will go to Madrid, Rabat, Casablanca, Algeria, and Cairo after Istanbul and Ankara on March 4-11.

It was stated that Sherman will later meet with Spanish Foreign Minister Angeles Moreno Bau in Madrid on March 7, where she will attend the opening meeting of the US-Spain Cyber Security Dialogue.

In the statement, it was stated that the Deputy Minister will later go to the Moroccan cities of Rabat and Casablanca on 8-9 March and will lead the US delegation at the US-Morocco Strategic Dialogue Meeting on Regional Political Issues in Morocco.

In the statement, which expressed that Sherman will attend a working dinner with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and meet with other senior government officials, it was shared that the Deputy Minister will make the opening speech at the “International Women’s Day” event, where entrepreneurs and businesspeople take part.

It was reported that Sherman, who will go to Algeria from Morocco on March 10, where she will meet with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to discuss bilateral and regional issues.

In the statement, it was said that Sherman will meet with Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra and will lead the US delegation for the 5th US-Algeria Strategic Dialogue.

Finally, it was indicated in the statement that Deputy Minister Sherman will travel to Cairo on March 10, where she will meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and other senior Egyptian officials.
