Turkish delegation pays two-day official visit to Kuwait

The delegation headed by Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Mustafa Şentop was received by Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that the Turkish delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop embarked on a two-day official visit to Kuwait. Within the scope of the visit, Turkish delegation held talks with the Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

Welcoming the Turkish delegation at Bayan Palace, the Crown Prince praised decades-old bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the report issued by KUNA. Sheikh Meshal also spoke highly of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Expressing his gratefulness for the Turkish President’s support to Kuwait, the Crown Prince said, “Erdoğan is a brave man with his stance, words, and actions. We have love and respect for him.” He also delivered his happiness, which derived from Şentop and his accompanying delegation to “their second country, Kuwait.”

Referring to Turkey’s stance during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, Sheikh Meshal reiterated his country’s thanks to Turkey and highlighted that Kuwait would not forget the stance of Turkey, which is described as Kuwait’s brothers and friends.

The Kuwaiti Crown Prince also mentioned the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the political, economic, and commercial fields. On this subject, he described the increasing trade volume between the two countries as “clear proof of the strength of the relations.”

Emphasizing the importance of Turkish companies, carrying out some significant infrastructure projects in Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal expressed his country’s administration, government, and investment agencies’ satisfaction which is felt for the increase in the volume of the Kuwaiti investments in Turkey, given economic dimension of development opportunities for the two countries.

In terms of tourism, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince added that Turkey has become a popular destination for Kuwaiti citizens.

Speaking on his behalf, Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Şentop said, “The deep-rooted historical ties, common cultural values and mutual affection between our peoples further strengthen the friendship between our countries.”

Şentop also expressed his pleasure in holding a face-to-face meeting and maintaining reciprocal high-level official visits, which had to be interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Turkish Parliamentary Speaker also praised the efforts that have been deployed to enhance further the cooperation between the two countries in every field.

Within the scope of his visit to Kuwait, Mustafa Şentop also met with Marzouq Ali Mohammed Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly. Şentop and his accompanying delegation visited Kuwait’s National Assembly building as well.
