The President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pointed out that the elections, planned for June, should be ‘’transparent’’ and ‘’honest’’. The era of vote quotas is over, he said.
In his speech to the national media on Sunday, Tebboune made clear that all results will be embraced, as long as the elections are held in an honest and transparent way. He also expressed that all candidates will be treated fairly.
In February, Abdelmadjid Tebboune dissolved the lower house of the Algerian parliament and called for early parliamentary elections, to be held on June 12.
