During an operation in Syria on Thursday, US-led coalition forces seized a senior Daesh/ISIS leader.

According to a statement from the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF–OIR), “the detained individual was considered to be an experienced bomb maker and facilitator who became one of the group’s top leaders in Syria.”

According to the statement, no civilians were hurt during the operation, and no coalition aircraft or assets were damaged.

“Coalition forces will continue to seek Daesh remnants wherever they hide to achieve their long-term defeat,” the statement stated.

The action, which was reportedly backed up by helicopters, was carried out in northern Syria, according to several local media reports.

The terror group’s head, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, was killed by US forces in Syria in February.
