According to a statement made by the US Department of State, Secretary of State Antony Blinken conducted a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to talk about diplomatic ways to bring the Yemeni Civil War to a close, and how to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s defenses along the conflict zones against attacks by the Houthis.

Saudi Arabia leads a coalition force with groups fighting against the Iran-backed Houthi movement. Within the past week, four drone attacks were conducted by the Houthis, three of which have been successfully eliminated by the Saudi-backed coalition. Another attack was not intercepted and caused a fire in a civilian aircraft, located at Abha International Airport.
