Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) will conduct an official visit to Turkey on June 22.

Speaking to reporters, Erdogan said that the crown prince will be welcomed at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara. In addition to interdelegational meetings, the two leaders will discuss bilateral ties.

The Turkish president stated, “We will have the opportunity to discuss how to further bilateral ties to a higher level.”

In the first high-level visit in years, which followed intense efforts in recent months to repair some diplomatic damage after a decade of tension, Erdogan visited the kingdom in April.

The visit was described by Erdogan as “a manifestation of our common will to start a new era of cooperation as two brotherly countries.”

In order to reset relations with regional powers such as Israel, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia after years of antagonism, Ankara has embarked on a diplomatic push over the past year.
