Israeli government officials failed to organize an “urgent” phone contact between Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and US President Joe Biden, Israeli television stated.

When Israeli authorities requested phone contact with President Biden, the White House responded that he was unavailable because he is “on vacation,” according to an Israeli channel.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who departed for Washington on Wednesday evening, will not be able to meet with his American colleague Lloyd Austin, the channel also reported.

The channel expressed, “As the nuclear discussions with Iran enter their last phase, it can be argued that Israel is not a major component in American calculations.”

The statement indicated, “Even before discussions with Israeli leaders, the United States responded to Iran’s answer to the draft nuclear accord.”

The gap between Israel and the United States is “quite significant,” according to an Israeli political source.

US government officials confirmed on Wednesday that a response to Iran’s remarks on the EU-drafted plan had been sent, but would provide any other information. Iran stated that it is doing a “thorough evaluation” of the US response.
