On the sideline of the Philia Forum, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Greece, and Southern Cyprus, released a joint statement, after a separate meeting between the three parties. The ministers underlined that peace, stability and prosperity is aimed to be promoted with the cooperation between the three countries. In addition, the region has the potential to be an oasis containing these elements, the joint statement declared.

The joint statement has also welcomed the formation of the new interim government in Libya. Furthermore, the three foreign ministers called on the new Libyan interim government to nullify the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA) and Turkey. While the three countries stress the importance of the ceasefire, they welcome the interim executive authority in the country as well, as an important step leading up to the general elections on 24 December.
