It was reported that Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone talk with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday. During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged greetings on the occasion of the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The conversation came as the first between the two leaders since the reconciliation agreement, which brought an end to the three-and-a-half-year conflict that occurred when Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain cut their ties with Qatar and imposed a land, sea, and air blockade on the country, was reached at the 41st summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Saudi Arabia’s Al Ula on January 5.

In February, similar contact was made between the Qatari Emir and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In that conversation, the Qatari Emir reiterated his country’s firm support for Saudi Arabia’s security, stability, and sovereignty. The conversation came amid Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi group intensifying its attacks against Saudi soil.
