Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al Thani held a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sabah al-Khalid Al-Sabah and discussed regional and international developments. They also laid emphasis on close relations between two countries and discussed possible means to promote and develop them.

It is seen that the contacts between the two counties have increased after the Gulf crisis was resolved. Kuwait had played a significant mediator role in finding a solution for the 3.5-year-long crisis.

After more than three years of dispute, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt inked a reconciliation agreement with Qatar during the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council summit held in Saudi Arabia on January 5.

In 2017, these four countries cut their diplomatic and trade relations with Qatar, allegedly Qatar supports terrorism. On the other hand, Qatar has perseveringly denied the allegations.
