Morocco EU’s first economic and trade partner in African continent, says EC President

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission (EC), who visited Morocco, met with Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch in the capital Rabat.

According to the news in Moroccan official agency MAP, at the press conference he held with Akhannouch after the meeting, Ursula von der Leyen said, “Morocco is a country with which we have established a strong and solid strategic partnership. On this basis, we can create an expectation and a common vision for our partnership.”

She said that Morocco is the first partner of the EU in the economic and commercial field at the African level.

Ursula von der Leyen, who said that meeting with Prime Minister Akhannouch is an opportunity to discuss the global problems faced by Morocco and the EU, adding that both sides should find common solutions to overcome these problems.

The President of the EC noted that they are trying to develop an environmental partnership between the EU and Rabat, adding that this is a partnership with an ally country whose main goal is to develop green energies.
