Authorities have expressed on Saturday that Israeli President Isaac Herzog will pay a two-day official visit to Turkey on March 9-10.

According to a statement by the Israeli presidency, the visit will come upon the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Michal Herzog, the Israeli president’s wife, will also accompany him during the visit.

Following an official welcoming ceremony to be held in Ankara, the two leaders will have a meeting at the country’s presidential complex.

Several bilateral issues are expected to be discussed between Erdogan and Herzog, including bilateral ties, and the potential to enhance cooperation in various fields.

During his visit, the Israeli president is also expected to meet with members of the Jewish community in Istanbul.

The visit made by Herzog will become the first conducted by an Israeli leader to Turkey since 2008.

Outlining the positives of the visit for Turkish-Israeli relations, Erdogan announced that the Israeli president would visit Turkey in March during a press conference on February 3.
