The head of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) Emad al-Sayeh made statements about the election program at the press conference held in the capital Tripoli today.

Sayeh stated that the second round of the presidential elections will be held on the same date as the parliamentary elections. Stating that the presidential and parliamentary elections will be linked, al-Sayeh announced that they, as the HNEC, presented their proposals to the House of Representatives (HoR).

In addition to this, Sayeh added that the results of elections will be announced simultaneously with each other. The head of the HNEC described the election day as a day away from the gunfire. He stated that the registered voter lists for the planned elections will start to be published as of Tuesday, October 25. Addressing the Libyan people at this point, Sayeh emphasized that voters should be sure of the ballot boxes they will vote in.

Nonetheless, Sayeh stated that an announcement will be made on the website of HNEC in connection with the election law for the candidates. He also called for the support of the Libyan people and all political parties to hold the elections in a fair and transparent environment.
