First UAE Ambassador to Israel sworn in

The UAE’s first Ambassador to Israel was sworn in on Sunday before leaving for Tel Aviv.

Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Khaja, the UAE’s first-ever Ambassador to Israel, was sworn  on 14 February in front of the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. The ceremony takes place a month after the UAE established its embassy in Tel Aviv.

The embassy was opened following the normalization of bilateral relations with Israel, under the Abraham Accords. Following the normalization, numerous bilateral meetings and visits were conducted. While the UAE opened its embassy, Israel also opened its embassy in Abu Dhabi, with Eitan Na’eh serving as the acting Ambassador to the UAE.
