On Monday, in an emergency meeting conducted by the Arab League, the organization expressed it was following the developments in Ukraine and their military and humanitarian consequences with “great concern.”

The emergency meeting held at Egypt’s request accepted that it supports “all efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy in a manner that preserves the security and safety of peoples in this important region of the world.”

During the meeting, which was chaired by Kuwait, the Arab League stressed “the importance of respecting the principles of international law and the UN Charter,”

The importance of continued cooperation and coordination between Arab countries to maintain the security and safety of the Arab communities currently in the region, to facilitate the crossing of those wishing to cross to neighboring countries, and to maintain the security and safety of members of Arab diplomatic missions were also emphasized.

During the meeting, Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki said they believe it is imperative for all peace-loving countries and organizations to move quickly in order to stop the escalation and not fuel it, restore dialogue, and seek to settle the crisis through diplomacy to avoid the deterioration of the situation and the expansion of the conflict.
