According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the US military killed a Daesh/ISIS leader during a drone attack on Tuesday in northwest Syria.

Two senior Daesh/ISIS officials were targeted by a strike outside Jindayris, northwest Syria.

In a statement, CENTCOM said, “Maher al-Agal, one of the top five ISIS leaders and the leader of ISIS in Syria, was killed in the strike. A senior ISIS official closely associated with Maher was seriously injured during the strike.”

No civilian casualties occurred during the attack, the statement indicated.

The statement also added that, “In addition to being a senior leader within the group, Al-Agal was responsible for aggressively pursuing the development of ISIS networks outside of Iraq and Syria.”

“The removal of these ISIS leaders will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out global attacks,” CENTCOM spokesperson Col. Joe Buccino said.
