Consultative meeting in Lebanon to not include Syria, says Arab League chief

The head of the Arab League said on Friday that Syria will not join the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Lebanon. After arriving in Beirut, Ahmed Aboul Gheit said, “All Arab countries will participate in the consultative meeting of the Arab foreign ministers on Saturday, except Syria whose membership is frozen.” With regards to the agenda of the meeting, Gheit said every minister will propose issues for discussion

In the statement released, the bloc said, “The EU condemns in the strongest terms these crimes causing the deaths of so many civilians over more than a decade of conflict.
