The Assad government called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to take pivotal and instant measures to avert the reprise of Israeli attacks on its territory, emphasizing the prerequisite to make Israeli authorities answer for their ‘terrorism’ and crimes devoted against the Syrian and Palestinian peoples, and their unremitting support for terrorist organizations.

“Israeli occupation forces, on Thursday dawn, committed a new aggression on our territory by launching missiles from Lebanese territory, which targeted the vicinity of Damascus, in flagrant violation of United Nations Charter, principles of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions which all affirm respect for the sovereignty of the nation” the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry of the Assad regime announced in a statement.

The statement added that Israel’s prolongation of its hazardous and irresponsible acts would have certainly not been done without the unrelenting and boundless support of the US administration and other countries of the UNSC.

The Ministry announced that the Assad government still trusts the international legitimacy of the UNSC and call upon it to implement its mechanisms to hold accountabilities, in the context of the UN Charter, and take key and immediate procedures to prevent the reappearance of Israeli attacks.
