Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the ruler of Dubai, announced ministerial changes on Saturday, including new finance and environment ministers.
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed’s son and Dubai’s current deputy ruler, was named as deputy prime minister and finance minister.
Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini succeeds long-serving Minister of State for Finance Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, while Maryam Al Muhairi takes over as Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
Sultan Al-Badi was replaced as Minister of Justice by Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al-Nuaimi.
Abdul Rahman Al-Awar replaced Nasser Al-Hamli as Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Abdullah Al Ketbi was made Minister for the Affairs of the Federal Supreme Council.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei retains his position as energy minister, but now also serves as minister of infrastructure, reflecting the merger of the two ministries.
The reshuffle was announced as part of a new government policy aimed at accelerating change in the UAE through “transformational projects.”
