On Tuesday, it was reported that Israeli missiles struck an area on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. Missiles were fired toward the Druze town of Hader in northern Quneitra province.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which documents human rights abuses on the ground in Syria, said Israeli strikes targeted areas where Iran-backed fighters are based. According to SOHR, a military outpost belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah group was hit.
No casualties were reported as a result of the attack.
Tuesday’s target has been reported to be targeted before in July 2018. Back then, pro-regime sources reported that the target was a factory and research center.
The Israeli army has not commented on the attack yet. It is known that specific strikes in Syria are not commented on by the military, although previous official statements underline that Israel’s ongoing military campaign is to target Iran-linked militias’ facilities and weapons convoys in Syria.
In May, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) accused Assad regime forces of cooperating with Hezbollah and named Hamoush as working with Hezbollah in return for aid.
Iranian-backed militias have been growing their presence across southern Syria since Bashar al-Assad regained territory once lost to rebels. The ALMA Research and Education Center is said to report the presence of 58 locations belonging to Hezbollah in the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Daraa.
The total number of cells near the Israeli border is believed to be 30.
