Malley, new US envoy to Iran, spoke with major European allies on JCPOA

The US’ new envoy to Iran discussed with officials from major European allies such as the UK, France and Germany on the night of 29 January. Malley, who was appointed as the US’ envoy to Iran a day beforehand based on his previous involvement in the Iran nuclear deal, is said to have demanded with respective officials with the goal to learn how all parties perceive the current situation of the JCPOA.

Diplomatic sources present, during the discussions between the western JCPOA member states, underline that the conversations were conducted to assess the take of the European party in the issue, as well as the general issue itself.
