Mohammed Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, underwent an appendicitis surgery on 24 February at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh with success and left the hospital soon after, said the royal court. According to an official statement, the operation was laparoscopic and no large incision was made on the Crown Prince. The royal court indicated that Crown Prince Bin Salman left the hospital in health and wellness.
Since being appointed as the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Bin Salman obtained significant power in the affairs of the Kingdom. While executing significant pressure against dissidents and opposition in order to exert his authority, he has also conducted significant social and economic reforms which have never been seen in the history of Saudi Arabia. Since then, liberalization efforts and policies of economic diversification implemented under his authority have caught attention.
Another matter which has caught worldwide attention during Crown Prince Bin Salman’s authority has been the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. Saudi authorities, including the Crown Prince, have changed the story of the issue numerous times until eventually the Crown Prince accepted full responsibility for the murder conducted by Saudi operatives by saying it happened under his watch, though he denied having prior knowledge of the plan itself.
