A shooting in central Israel on Tuesday killed five people, Israeli police say.

An automatic rifle-wielding terrorist opened fire on civilians in the city of Bnei Brak, then moved on to another street and opened fire on more civilians, according to a police statement.

Security forces were said to have shot and killed the attacker.

There was no further information on the attackers or the victims’ identities.

The city of Bnei Brak received a large number of security and medical personnel following the shooting.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will meet with defense and public safety ministers and other security officials to discuss the incident that occurred earlier today, according to a statement released by Bennett’s office.

On March 22, a knife attack in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba claimed the lives of four Israelis. Previously imprisoned for “security-related” crimes, the perpetrator was said to be a Daesh/ISIS terror group sympathizer.

Two assailants opened fire on the Hadera police force on Sunday evening, killing two officers and injuring three others. Terrorists from the Daesh/ISIS group claimed responsibility.
