Voting for new interim government underway by Libya talks’ participants

The latest UN process aimed at electing an interim Libyan government began preparations for a ballot on 5 February.

Today, participants in determining Libya’s interim government until national elections began preparations for a ballot conducted under the United Nations’ peace process.

During the past week, various names have been determined to fill the role of prime minister and roles within the presidency council in Libya, until the general elections on 24 December. Among these names include, the Minister of Interior for the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fathi Bashagha, and the President of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives Aguila Saleh Issa. At 07:30 GMT, participants were expected to convene for the final vote on the four rival lists.
