UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed traveled to Damascus to meet with Bashar al-Assad, according to officials from the Assad regime.
According to a statement released by officials, the two addressed bilateral connections and business collaborations during their meeting on Tuesday.
Earlier, Lebanese media stated that the Emirati official visited Syria as part of a “large Gulf delegation.”
Bin Zayed is the first Emirati official to visit Damascus since the 2011 revolution, which turned into a horrific, multi-front conflict that killed hundreds of thousands of people, displaced millions, and destroyed Syria’s infrastructure.
