Late on Sunday, a security source announced that two banks in the Iraqi capital were targeted with explosives, leaving two people injured.

The sound bombs simultaneously targeted one bank near the National Theater and a second one in Al-Wathiq Square, both in the Karrada district, Lieut. Gen. Ahmed Salim, the commander of Baghdad operations, said in a statement to state media.

Material damage has been reported by both banks, while Salim did not share details or information on the perpetrators of the attacks.

The attacks were confirmed by the Iraqi government’s security media cell to have been carried out with sound bombs.
