According to the Turkish Presidency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s de facto ruler.

According to Turkey’s Communications Directorate, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

Both leaders discussed “the prospects of reinforcing the relations between the two nations in a way that serves their common interests and their two peoples”, according to the UAE’s state news agency.

Two weeks ago, Erdoğan met with UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss economic cooperation. After the meeting, Erdoğan stated that the two nations had made progress in repairing relations, which may lead to considerable UAE investment in Turkey.

Two weeks ago, Erdoğan stated in a televised interview that talks with Abu Dhabi, which have been going on for a few months and are being directed by Turkish intelligence, had reached a significant point.

“I believe that there will be more talks in the coming period. We are in favour of the main actors in the region directly negotiating and solving problems,” Erdoğan expressed two weeks ago.
