On Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Istanbul in a meeting behind closed doors.

The Turkish presidency’s communications directorate said on Sunday that the two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral and international relations as well as the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

During the week, the Greek government’s spokesperson said Mitsotakis had already been planning to visit the Istanbul-based Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and had been invited to lunch by Erdogan at the presidential mansion in the Bosphorus.

The lunch meeting started at 2.00 p.m. local time at the Vahdettin Mansion.
