Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed Turkish presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin and Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal in Ramallah.
According to accounts, the gathering discussed Turkey-Palestine relations. According to the sources, the Turkish delegation promised the Palestinian people its continuous support within the context of a two-state solution. Turkish officials also met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki to discuss bilateral relations.
The meeting was also attended by the Turkish Consul General in Jerusalem Ahmet Riza Demirer. On Thursday, Kalin and Onal are expected to meet with officials from Israel’s foreign ministry and presidency.
On Wednesday, the two top Turkish officials launched a two-day visit to Palestine and Israel.
The trip comes before Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s anticipated March visit to Turkey, as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated.
