Turkish and Iranian presidents talk through a phone call

The two leaders negotiated possible means to promote Turkey-Iran collaboration and cooperation.

On Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani over the phone, the Republic of Turkey Directorate of Communications stated. In the conversation, potential tools to improve relations between Turkey and Iran were discussed.

Also, President Erdogan reiterated his wishes that the new administration in the US revokes unilateral sanctions which were implemented against Iran and eliminate unfair barriers over the prosperity of the Iranian people. In this regard, the latest developments on this subject have created opportunities in this way, he added.

Based on the same statement, the most logical step that should be taken for all sides would be turning back to the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). President Erdogan also said that in order for this to materialize, keeping the dialogue channels open is essential.
