Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya Kenan Yilmaz paid a visit to the eastern city of Benghazi on Saturday at the invitation of Benghazi Mayor Saqr Bogwari.

Yilmaz met with the members of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) as part of the visit.

Yilmaz stated that it is possible for Turkey to reopen its Consulate in Benghazi if the conditions are met.

Ambassador Yilmaz stated that they see Libya as a whole and do not make any regional distinctions. In addition to this, Yilmaz said that the meetings with HoR members and the Mayor of Benghazi were very fruitful, and that cooperation opportunities in the fields of education, health and transportation were discussed at the meetings.

Nonetheless, Yilmaz stated that a technical team from Turkish Airlines will go to Benina airport in Benghazi and investigate the resumption of flights.

Ambassador Yilmaz had previously met with the eastern Deputy Prime Minister Hussein al-Qatrani and the HoR Speaker Aguila Saleh in the city of Qubbah.
