On Wednesday, the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) adopted a budget of $20 billion for the Fathi Bashagha government.

Making statements after the session, parliamentary spokesperson Abdullah Bilhaq stated that the budget was unanimously approved after the discussions in the parliament.

In addition to this, the Speaker of the HoR Aguila Saleh, in his speech to the members of the parliament, said, “The government whose budget is approved today was not formed in exile, but was formed under the dome of Parliament.”

Fathi Bashagha, who was appointed in March, served as the Minister of Interior in the previous Government of National Accord (GNA).

After Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh announced that he would hand over power only to the person elected by the people, the tension between the parties increased.

Bashagha and the armed groups affiliated with him attempted to enter the capital Tripoli twice.
