The deputy head of the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides, Rear Adm. Alexander Karpov, said at a briefing that the terrorist group known as Jabhat al-Nusra have shelled the Idlib de-escalation zone 38 times in the past 24 hours.

While the province of Idlib was registered to have gone under 23 attacks, 6 other attacks took place in Latakia, 3 were sighted in Aleppo, and 6 were noted to have taken place in Hama as other areas of target. According to the data collected by the Assad regime, the total number of attacks reached 31.

Rear Adm. Karpov added that the Russian military police units are escorting civilian vehicles on the M4 highway between the Raqqa and al-Hasakah provinces.

The center that shared information on the attacks is a joint initiative of Turkey and Russia founded on February 23, 2016. It is argued to be a monitoring center and an information office that is responsible for contributing to speed the peace negotiations between the Assad regime and opposition groups.

The center also engages in the signing of agreements on illegal armed groups and individual settlements, joining the regime of cessation of hostilities, and coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
