Ned Price, Spokesman for the State Department under the Biden administration, said in a statement that the US has not changed its position on the conditions needed for it to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Price, underlined that Washington will follow the first move made by Tehran in order to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal.

The statement came after Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif proposed that Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, could coordinate the efforts of both countries to return to full compliance to the JCPOA. Zarif also highlighted in previous statements in the past week that Iran expects the US to make the first steps, as it is the party which withdrew from the deal in the first place.
