An oil tanker seized by Greece has been freed, according to a statement released by Iranian authorities on Tuesday.

Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), in a statement cited by an Irabian news agency, said, “Despite the US attempt to confiscate the Iranian oil cargo on an Iranian-flagged tanker off the Greek coast, a Greek court has overturned an earlier court ruling and now the court has ordered the Greek government to return the cargo to its owners.”

The Iranian oil tanker Lana, previously called Pegas, was seized by Greek authorities last April as a part of EU sanctions against Tehran.

A Greek court overturned a previous ruling on June 9 that allowed the US to seize the oil of the seized Iranian tanker.
