Israeli jets carried out airstrikes near Damascus on Thursday night for the second time in under a week, Syrian media said.

Syrian news agency SANA, citing a military source, said Syrian air defenses had shot down “some” of the missiles fired.

It said the strikes only caused physical damage in the western Damascus countryside, but did not specify further.

Shortly before the Syrian media reports, Israelis near the northern border filmed Israeli Air Force jets flying overhead.

Israel’s military does not comment on specific strikes in Syria, but has admitted to conducting hundreds of sorties against Iran-backed groups, attempting to gain a foothold in the country, and the Bashar al-Assad regime. It says it also attacks arms shipments believed to be bound for Iran-backed groups.
