In a meeting on Monday afternoon, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi deliberated on the latest developments in the region, including the situation in Lebanon, Syria, and Libya.

The two politicians also exchanged views on the peace process in the Middle East, Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said in a statement.

The two countries, Jordan and Egypt, along with Germany and France, formed in February 2020 a quartet group called the ‘Munich Group’ with the aim of reviving the long-frozen peace negotiations between Palestine and Israel.

In May, an armistice between Hamas and Israel was signed with the contribution of the US and regional partners, ending 11 days of Israeli aggression that killed more than 250 civilians, injured thousands, and destroyed tens of thousands of infrastructures in the besieged Gaza Strip.
