According to the Russian presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa, the Russian Embassy in Libya will resume its work soon.

On Saturday, Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters that the opening of the Russian Embassy in Libya will be “very soon.”

In 2014, Russia relocated its embassy in Libya to neighboring Tunisia for security reasons. The move, which resulted in Moscow’s withdrawal of its diplomatic staff from Libya, was taken after the embassy came under attack in October 2013.

Since the overthrow of strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, oil-rich Libya has been mired by conflict and violence.
