Libya’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla Al-Mangoush expressed that the reopening of the Chinese embassy in the capital as well as the consulate in Benghazi is highly significant, especially when the better security conditions with the Government of National Unity in office are considered.

After a meeting with Chinese charge d’affaires Wang Qimin, Al-Mangoush noted that the reopening of the Chinese embassy will prepare the floor for the resumption of Chinese firms’ activities in her country, and will contribute to Libya’s reconstruction.

The Minister, hailing the significance of China as a global power and due to its friendly ties with Libya, drew the attention to China’s major projects in the region, concerning communication, transportation, and infrastructure.

The Chinese diplomat also welcomed the new Government of National Unity, which is believed to have started a new era of security, economic recovery, and stability in Libya. Qimin added that China is considering the issue of reopening its embassy and that Chinese companies will return soon. Qimin also underlined the importance of cooperation and support between the two countries.
