Qatar forms new ministerial post for regional affairs

Conducting successful mediator roles for several regional conflicts in recent years, Qatar decides to establish a new position for an assistant foreign minister for regional affairs.

Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued a decree on Sunday ordering the creation of a new position for an assistant foreign minister for regional affairs.

According to the state-run news agency, Emir Sheikh Tamim named Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Saleh Al Khulaifi as Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs.

Previously serving as the dean of the Law Faculty at Qatar University, Al Khulaifi also serves on several academic and professional committees. The permanent Legislative Committee of the Qatar Council of Ministers is among those memberships.

Giving weight to regional issues, the Gulf country draws attention by its mediation efforts that have been successfully carried out in several regional disagreements in recent years.
