Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), visited the immigration center in Tripoli’s Ain Zara district during the week. PM Dbeibeh, who met with authorities about the situation of the immigrants in the center, discussed the problems that immigrants face in Libya.

In addition to this, Dbeibeh examined the conditions of service in centers where immigrants are held. Especially in the recent period, the developments experienced during the escape of the immigrants from the detention centers where they are detained were brought to the agenda in the international arena. Making statements about this, the UN Human Rights Office announced that six immigrants lost their lives in the attempt to escape in Tripoli.

The Presidential Council, on the other hand, expressed in a statement that the migrants temporarily hosted in Libya were not harmed. The spokesperson of the Council stated that the western world must fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities towards illegal immigrants and that the return of immigrants at the European borders causes social and economic problems in their own countries.
