Following a military assault in the southern occupied West Bank, Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man amid clashes. Mahmoud Fayez Abu Ayhour, aged 27, was killed in Halhul, 5 kilometers north of Hebron city, on Thursday.

Just before 13:00, Abu Ayhour arrived at Al-Mizan Hospital in Hebron in critical condition (10:00 GMT). After 30 minutes, he was declared dead.

Abu Ayhour was shot in the stomach, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

According to the health ministry, at least seven Palestinians were hurt during the clashes, including three with live bullets and two with rubber-coated bullets who were sent to the hospital for treatment.

According to local journalists, the Israeli army attacked Halhul three hours before the incident, shutting down the major route, firing tear gas, and making arrests.

Israeli forces attack Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank on a regular basis, including to make arrests. In military sweeps across the country on Thursday night, at least 13 Palestinians were apprehended.

As a result of clashes with the army, such raids frequently result in the death or injury of Palestinians. According to the Ministry of Health, Israeli soldiers have murdered at least 62 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of 2022.
