Negotiations begin between Libya, TotalEnergies to increase Libyan oil exports

Negotiations have started between the Libyan National Oil Company (NOC) and French Total Energies for increasing production made by Libya's Waha Oil Company.

Libyan National Oil Company (NOC) President Mustafa Sanallah and French TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne have conducted negotiations in Houston, US.

In a statement by NOC, the two negotiated for Libya’s Waha Oil Company to increase oil production. In addition to this, the improvement of the infrastructure of the company’s oil fields in order to increase production was discussed.

Furthermore, it was stated in the NOC statement that natural gas production will be focused on and the increase in production will be at a level that can meet the increasing gas demand in the global market.

TotalEnergies officials, on the other hand, emphasized that they will contribute to this strategy of NOC by raising awareness and consciousness with the workshop it will organize.

TotalEnergies has been present in Libya since 1954. In 2018, the group’s production in the country averaged 63,000 bpd.
