Menfi announces readiness of Presidential Council to hand over duties and authorities after elections

Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, made important statements at the Peace Conference on Libya held in Paris.

Al-Menfi expressed that, as the Presidential Council, they are ready to transfer the power to an elected and legitimate body through fair and independent elections. In addition to this, al-Menfi added that the country was struggling with internal conflicts and, as a result, it was divided into two.

Al-Menfi, who stated that the Presidential Council is making efforts to fulfill the requirements of the ceasefire agreement, emphasized that they support the national reconciliation process with the release of prisoners and different issues.

Al-Menfi, who came to Paris with a delegation of 5+5 Joint Military Committee officials, stated that the Conference was a very beneficial initiative for the peace and stability of Libya.

According to the statement made by Elysee, the Paris Conference will be held under the co-chairmanship of Germany, Italy, France, the United Nations, and Libya. France also invited Chad, Niger, Greece, Malta, and South Cyprus to the conference, as well as the countries participating in the Berlin process for peace in Libya.
