The Head of the Libyan High Council of State (HCS) Khalid al-Mishri said that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh suggested to him to go to Turkey and meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In addition, al-Mishri stated that he suggested Fathi Bashagha come to Turkey.

Making statements regarding the latest developments, al-Mishri noted that they objected to some articles in the constitutional declaration issued by the House of Representatives (HoR).

Expressing that they are against the extension of the mandates of the HoR and the HCS in particular, al-Mishri announced that they will present their Prime Minister candidates as soon as possible.

Al-Mishri stressed last week that the HCS had not determined its stance on the decision of the HoR to appoint Bashagha as prime minister.

On the anniversary of the February 17 revolution that took place in 2011, former Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha had been elected as the prime minister of the transitional period by the HoR.

Dbeibeh had stated that he did not recognize the decision and would remain in office.
