Libyan high-ranking officials visit Algeria

The Libyan Chief of General Staff and the Deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council traveled to Algeria to hold official talks.

The Libyan Chief of General Staff, Gen. Mohamed Al-Haddad, and Deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Musa al-Koni, traveled to Algeria to hold official talks.

Gen. Al-Haddad discussed issues related to military cooperation and security with his Algerian counterpart, Said Chengriha.

According to a written statement from the Algerian Ministry of Defense, during the meeting, Chengriha and al-Haddad discussed regional security and military cooperation and focused on the necessity of acting jointly in the fight against new security threats, especially the common borders in the south.

During the meeting, Chengriha emphasized to al-Haddad that the crisis in Libya should be eliminated as soon as possible and that the country should resume playing its key role in establishing regional peace and stability.

Al-Haddad thanked Algeria for its efforts to reduce the differences of opinion between the Libyan parties.

Meanwhile, Al-Koni, Deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, met with the Speaker of the Algerian National Assembly, Salah Goudjil.

During the meeting, Goudjil expressed that Algeria is ready to support the Libyan people in the timely elections in Libya and the country’s emergence into a safe harbor.

Al-Koni further praised the support of the Algerian government to the Libyan people.
