The head of the Association of the Families of the Martyrs of Volcano of Anger, Kamal Al-Jamal, called on the relatives of those killed by militias affiliated with warlord Khalifa Haftar to file a lawsuit against these militia groups. Jamal stated that justice will not take place unless those responsible are tried by the judicial authorities.

Many Libyans lost their lives in the attacks launched by militia groups affiliated with warlord Haftar in April 2019 to seize the capital Tripoli. After the attacks, especially the mass graves and war crimes in Tarhuna came to the fore internationally. So far, 300 bodies have been found in Tarhuna, where the Kaniyat family of Haftar was prominently active.

The Association was established in August 2020 to support the families who lost their lives in the 2019 Tripoli attack. 2,180 families are part of the organization.
