Libya must play key role in Paris Conference, says Algeria

Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, along with his Libyan and Tunisian counterparts, emphasized that the Libyan Government of National Unity should play a key role as the main actor in the Paris Conference on November 12.

In a written statement made by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that the foreign ministers of Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia met on the occasion of the 67th Anniversary of the revolutionary struggle of Algeria.

In the statement, it was stated that Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra met with Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush and Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi in Algiers.

It was stated that the three ministers exchanged views on the meetings related to Libya, especially the Paris Conference, and it was noted that the necessary importance was not given to the Government of National Unity (GNU) in the previous meetings.

It was emphasized that the GNU should play a key role as the main actor in the Paris Conference to be held on November 12.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian had announced in a press conference that his country would host an international conference on Libya on November 12, prior to the Libyan elections on December 24.
