According to a local official, ten Palestinians were injured on Sunday when Israeli forces dispersed a rally in the occupied West Bank.

Mayor Yaaqoub Eweis told news agencies that dozens of activists organized a rally in the Lubban al-Sharqiya village, south of Nablus, to protest settler attacks against Palestinian students.

He added that Israeli forces used stun grenades and violence to disperse the protesters.

Students in the village experience regular assaults by Israeli settlers, who obstruct their way to their school, Eweis said.

According to a reporter in the scene, a Palestinian journalist was among those injured when he was hit by a stun grenade.

Rising settler violence in the West Bank has led to mass complaints by Palestinians in recent weeks.

About 650,000 settlers live in 164 settlements and 116 outposts in the West Bank, including in occupied Jerusalem, Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate.

All Jewish settlements in occupied territories are considered illegal under international law.
