Local authorities said on Sunday that at least seven people were killed in an Israeli attack on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Hamas-run Interior Ministry spokesperson Iyad al-Buzum stated that seven dead bodies, including a boy and two women, were recovered from the rubble of a building that was targeted by Israel.

Meanwhile, Khaled Mansour, a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad group, was killed in the attack, the Al-Quds Brigades said in a statement.

On late Saturday, at least 24 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip since August 5, the Health Ministry said.

Citing an “imminent threat of attack” by the Islamic Jihad group, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes in the area.

The attacks came following the detention of Bassam al-Saadi, a senior leader of Islamic Jihad, in a raid by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.
